Case study: Branding for Cymorth Addsyg
Cymorth Addysg offers specialised tutoring and coaching to support individuals facing challenges in their studies or employment due to neurodiversity or disabilities. They also provide interactive training to raise awareness and improve support for neurodiverse and disabled individuals in educational and professional settings.
Helen, director of Cymorth Addysg, approached us last year and asked if we could create a visual identity for her business. Loving everything about her business and where she aims to take it, we were excited to work with her on this project! Since completing this project, we’ve also worked with her on a number of design assets for her business too

For her branding, we started with a consultation to learn about her, the passion behind her business, and her target clients. Ahead of the call, we set Helen a piece of ‘homework’ to collate logos she’s seen (in any industry, not just her own) that she’s loved and ones that she hasn’t liked so much. This helped to fuel our more creative discussions together in her consultation call.
From there, we worked on and presented her with a few concepts and she chose one to move forward with. You can see our different concepts below.
Concept 1
The branding concept centers around the idea of a journey (of her students), symbolised by arrows that convey forward and upward movement. Inspired by the tail of the Welsh dragon, these arrows form a larger circle reminiscent of Celtic symbols and a tangled brain.
One of Helen’s goals for her branding was to have a logo that could be used across three different service areas. You can see these sub-logos throughout the concepts we delivered.

Concept 2
This branding concept emphasises connection and community, symbolised by the pieces that fit together. The main icon forms an 'A' for 'Addysg' from three abstract 'C' shapes representing 'Cymorth,' with each colour denoting a different service area. The icon's dual design, resembling both a smile and a boat, reflects client satisfaction and the journey of transformation. The circular shape of the design conveys a friendly and welcoming feeling.

Concept 3 (chosen concept)
This branding concept features an icon with a 'c' shape and an 'a' cutout, symbolising Cymorth Addysg. The icon represents a person working at a desk (view from above: head and arms) or being held in arms of another person/business (care, supported). The head part of the icon stands out because it’s an important part of all services. The design uses three colours in a rainbow shape to represent hope, transformation, and new beginnings, with each colour linked to a specific service area. The circular shape conveys a friendly, welcoming feel with no harsh edges.

Finalising the design
To finalise the design, we amended the colour of the inner circle to match the colour surrounding it, lessening the stark contrast and giving a softer feel to the logo and icons:
Brand Colours
The brand's colour choices were thoughtfully selected to reflect each service area. Red, used for coaching, embodies courage, action, power, and compassion. Blue, representing training, conveys calmness, confidence, reliability, and an established presence. Yellow, chosen for tuition, symbolises curiosity, intellect, happiness, and freshness, perfectly capturing the spirit of learning and growth. Each colour not only distinguishes the service areas from each other but also has a deeper meaning with the values they represent.
The navy and light blue of the brand were intentionally chosen to be easier to read for those with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties and/or neurodiversities. Reducing the harsh contrast of black on white to navy on a soft blue helps the text to be more readable for her audiences.
Fonts
As a number of Helen’s clients and prospective clients have dyslexia, we wanted to choose a font that was first readable and second shared her brand personality. We tested a few different fonts, until we landed on her chosen one.
