Top 5 videos every business should have
Nikita-Dean Hart continues our guest blog series. Once a month, we share a guest blog post from an industry expert. Nikita is the founder of NDH Productions, an award-winning video company who create professional video content for businesses based in Kent.
In this post, Nikita shares the 5 videos every business should have that stand the test of time and out-live trends (meaning they’re evergreen content!)
Video is a powerful tool to market your business online and there are many types of videos that serve different purposes to strategically target your audience.
As a video content creator, I have been working with businesses across many different industries helping them to create high-quality engaging video content mostly for their website and social media channels. Each year, video trends change, quality gets better and the standards are raised. But I’ve found these types of videos remain strong regardless of trends and they will be evergreen content for your business.
So here’s my list of top 5 videos that every business should have. Each video has a different goal and are effective videos for business. Every business should at least have a few of these videos made, so if you’re looking to turn more people into a fan of your brand, then keep reading!
1. Testimonials
Testimonials feature real customers talking about your product or service and are great to build trust and validation. In a video format a testimonial is more engaging, emotive and really connects you to the customer’s story. These videos are great to back up your other marketing messages in a more authentic way that also is not directly coming from you.
Ask a few of your happy customers to share their journey starting from their initial problem to how they found a solution in your product or service and what results they got from it. Watching a real customer talk about why they recommend your product or service over others is incredibly powerful.
2. Demonstration video
Show your customers how it works/what it looks like in action. If it is a product, show them the simplicity of using it or how it is best used. If it is a service, show them the process from start to finish. Highlight key features or the USP of the product/service either by talking about it or showing transformations through before and after photos or videos. Get into the details of what makes you different and how your product or service works really well.
This can be done through a straightforward start to finish demonstration of your product or service covering all the steps of the process. If it’s a long process, make sure to keep the video short and engaging by focusing on the initial starting point and the end result. If you have more than one product or service, create videos for each of your top products and services.
3. About us
This is a great video to share your story and the history of the business from a human standpoint. This video can be more emotive when answering these questions; Why did you start the business? What problem were you trying to solve that wasn’t being done elsewhere? What are you passionate about and what are your values? If you have employees or a team, get everyone involved to talk about what they do and why they love working there. Especially for businesses looking for partners this shows them why they want to be associated and partner with you.
4. Explainers
Explainer videos focus on the overall service you provide to your customers. Show the range of products and services you provide. Think of your messaging here as your business’s pitch but the voiceover/dialogue should speak directly to your target audience with rapport that connects with them. Explainers follow the structure of identifying the problem, your solution, how it works and then a call to action. These videos should be short, snappy and simple for the viewer to comprehend what solution you provide to their problem and how.
Explainers have predominantly been animated for many years but trends are now moving toward live-action as they connect more with the viewer and animation styles have been copied and overused to the point its effectiveness and originality has declined.
5. Event coverage
Whether you run an annual event or you’re organising a special event this year, capture the event in a highlights video. It’s great content to advertise future events, shareable content for the people who went and to show people who didn’t attend what they had missed out so they come next time!
These can be anything from launch parties, publicity events and charity events to more annual award ceremonies, trade shows and conferences.
So there you have it! That was my top 5 videos every business should have. These videos are evergreen and best sit on your website, (which google with love and rank your website higher by the way) but can sit on your socials. Maybe create more socials-friendly versions of the videos above! Always make sure to post organically everywhere and avoid sharing links to other platforms!
Whether you’re just starting to implement video marketing or have been doing it for a while, take a step back from all the noise and get these videos ticked off the list. Focus on what will be really effective and what goals you specifically want to achieve with each video in the next year. If you have any questions or would like to chat with us about video, we’re happy to help!
